North Ayrshire’s Community Wealth Building launch | Key talking points summarised

On Thursday 14 May 2020 we launched the Community Wealth Building Strategy for North Ayrshire live on Facebook. The panelists for this live Q&A were: – Joe Cullinane, Leader of North Ayrshire Council – Matthew Brown, Leader of Preston City Council – Neil McInroy, Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) – Sarah McKinley, The Democracy Collaborative – Donna Fitzpatrick, Fullarton Community Hub, Irvine Community Wealth Building means more local employment and a larger and more diverse business base, ensuring that wealth is locally owned and benefits local people. It is about how we work as an organisation and with partners; from the goods that we buy, the people that we employ, the assets we own and the powers that we have that can bring about change to maximise local economic opportunities. We are proud that North Ayrshire Council is the first Community Wealth Building Council in Scotland.
